Technical Writing Portfolio

I’m so glad you’ve found the site and hope you enjoy its content! I started it as a blog— an attempt to force accountability when I set a goal of running an ultra distance. If you tell the whole world your plans, you have to do it, right? In time, it has grown and inspired me to do so much more.

The site is separated into four categories: Running and Hiking, Living the Life, Fiction, and My Portfolio.

I love to hike and run—really, anything outdoors. You can find several pieces about training, race recaps, reflections, and trail reviews under the Running and Hiking page.

We only have one life, and I aim to live it to the fullest. The Living the Life page includes pieces on making the best of what we have, randomness with (mostly) a positive spin. Some articles are on things I didn’t know before but wish someone had shared with me. Others are adventures I’ve had with my family, trying to see and experience more of the world around us. I wrote a few reflection pieces that when putting words to paper helped me and I hope can help others too. Then there are also a few entries that are just fun and about enjoying the simple things in life, like food, family, friends.

In the Fiction section, you can find short stories and addendums to my novels. The short stories are just for fun, but the extra bits from my novels…it’s hard to let go of some of the worlds and people I’ve created. I hope you enjoy exploring them as much as I did!

Lastly, the Technical Writing Portfolio page shares my work as it relates to being a Technical Writer (aka Content writer, UX Writer, Business Writer, Information Developer). You will find samples of my Adobe Photoshop and Illustrator work, samples of HTML and CSS coding, and various manuals, directions, and explanations using different programs. Additionally, I operate and have created the majority of the content for this site (outside of advertisements and a handful of pictures).

Why GOTAG?

GOTAG is an acronym for Get Out There And Go.  I thought of it as a mantra of sorts. Too tired to do _____? GOTAG! Feeling anxious about talking to a group of people you don’t know? GOTAG! Don’t have enough time to try something new? GOTAG! Can’t hurt to have another mantra in the mix, right?;-)

About E.E.F. Chaput

Picture of E.E.F. Chaput sitting on a step with her arms crossed.

About five years ago, I started to write to keep myself accountable for a goal of running forty miles. I’m so glad I did! Not only has it helped me see things in a new light, I’ve become obsessed! Now I am working toward making it a career.

When I’m not writing, I’m outside. I love running, trail running, and hiking, and I usually have an ultra race I’m training for or recovering from. I give back to the trails and the trail community by volunteering with the Trail Animals Running Club (TARC) as a part of their Outreach Group and as one of the race directors for the TARC Wapack and Back Trail Races.

I grew up ten minutes outside Washington, D.C., and have lived in Virginia, Maryland, Florida, and California. I currently reside in Massachusetts with my U.S. Marine Veteran husband, my two sons, and spunky Boston terrier. Though MA is a wonderful place to live, a bit of my heart has stayed in each place we called home. I look forward to all my trips (especially the road trips!), but the ones that bring us back are at the top of my list!

Before writing, I was in the U.S. Navy, a high school math teacher for eleven years, and I am currently working on my Technical Writing Certificate.
